Worthy Indulgences in Soufrière

On the west coast of stunning St. Lucia lies a special town called Soufrière, which boasts waterfalls, beaches, sulfur springs, volcanoes & other unparalleled scenery. There's more to this spot than meets the eye, though. Among all of the natural wonders are some spectacular restaurants & spas, which are perfect for kicking back & pampering yourself on a luxury vacation. Whether you just want a memorable meal overlooking the majestic Piton Mountains or need a massage to melt all of your tension away, Soufrière is an ideal spot for your self-indulgent getaway.

Stop by these places for some much-needed TLC:

Dasheene One of the dining gems in Soufrière is Dasheene, the on-site restaurant at the Ladera Resort. This spot is no secret, though – visitors & locals alike are known to flock here for Chef Orlando Satchell's award-winning dishes while taking in a spectacular view of the twin volcanic Piton peaks. Not only is the cuisine here incredibly innovative, but there is an impressive emphasis on sustainable cooking practices. Every single dish is made with locally harvested ingredients from nearby plantations & island farmers, many of which specifically grow their produce for the resort. The chef then turns those ingredients into flavorful meals that take a twist on traditional St. Lucian fare, such as a Caribbean lamp salad, plantain gratin with coconut rum sauce & a sweet potato & coconut soup.

Kai Belté Spa A lavish spa experience is essential to feeling rejuvenated after your stay in Soufrière. The Kai Belté spa, which is located at the beautiful Anse Chastanet resort, features an open-air nail salon, air conditioned treatment rooms & a cabana overlooking a reef, all on beach level. There, you can enjoy personalized services using all natural essential oils, botanical extracts & other ingredients sourced from the resort's organic farm. You might go for a Wosho Cho Hot Stone Massage, which is meant to balance out the physical, mental & emotional aspects of your well-being. Or, opt for the Shirodhara, which is an Ayurvedic therapy that starts with an Indian head massage & also involves the massaging of an herb-infused mixture into your hair to strengthen & nourish the follicles. The Shirodara then ends with a relaxing neck, shoulder, hand & foot massage.

Ms. Theresa's Bakery No trip to Soufrière would be complete without a stop at this decadent off-the-beaten-path bakery, which has been in business for more than 60 years. From the famous crusty Creole baguettes to confections like spiced coconut biscuits, there are endless options for satisfying your sweet tooth. Just be prepared for a long line, & be aware that the more popular treats tend to sell out by mid-morning.
