Updated: Nov 29, 2018

Whether you're still new to the world of wine or consider yourself a connoisseur, a luxury vacation to Antigua presents the perfect opportunity to explore your passion further. Many of the island's restaurants have an extensive selection as well as an expert sommelier, meaning not only will you get to taste grapes from all over the world, but you'll learn about what you're drinking.

Here are some of the top spots you should visit if you're hoping to boost your sipping smarts, or just want to find a new favorite varietal:

Coconut Grove There's a reason that the Coconut Grove has so many local regulars. With a renowned chef, impressive wine selection & friendly staff, the experience here is hard to match. On top of that, it's set right on the beach of Dickenson Bay, meaning you'll be overlooking the crystal clear Caribbean water as you savor a glass of sparkling rosé. This restaurant specializes in French wines like Chablis & Sancerre, which pair perfectly with their innovative dishes, like caramelized shrimp with roasted pumpkin & pineapple or orange duck breast simmered in Grand Marnier sauce. The ambience here strikes a balance between lively & laid-back, meaning you're sure to feel comfortable no matter the mood or occasion. Come for a romantic dinner at sunset, or simply stop by after your meal for a glass of wine at the bar. Also, be sure to check out their calendar, as they often host special events & tastings.

C&C Wine Bar Wine aficionados will rejoice at this cozy but elegant bar on Redcliffe Quay. If you've yet to try South African wines, now is your chance – the majority of C&C's selection comes from that region. The bar also features an array of fortified dessert wines as well as brandies, which pair perfectly with the savory snacks & decadent desserts. Even the food here is infused with the flavors of fine wine. Don't miss the pinotage burger, which is cooked with the signature South African varietal & served with sautéed onions. While any night at C&C is sure to be memorable, try to stop by on a Friday for one of their legendary barbecues.

Hamilton's Wine Bar & Bistro If you're hoping to sip wine in style, Hamilton's is the place. With a panoramic view of the historic Nelson's Dockyard, luxurious décor & eclectic artwork, the environment is as awe-inspiring as the menu. There is a vast array of options here by the glass & bottle, so you'll surely find something you like, no matter your budget. While enjoying that glass of sauvignon blanc, snack on the Hamilton's seafood platter. On nights when there's live music, get comfortable – you'll likely be staying for a while.
