Nightlife In Turks & Caicos: Swanky & Sweet

April 18th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Luxury Vacation Travel | Leave a comment

When you plan a Beach Bum Vacation to Turks & Caicos, it's totally understandable if you never want to leave the beach – after all, these famous stretches of white sand provide uncrowded sunbathing areas & plenty of snorkeling, scuba diving & boating opportunities. However fun the long, sunny days of your adult vacations in the Caribbean may be, when night falls you might be looking for some indoor attractions as well.

Fortunately, this little island really knows how to heat up at night. Whether you want to sip some rum while munching on fried seafood or get all dressed up for a special night out, Turks & Caicos has an option for you. Try these two local favorites:

Da Conch Shack & RumBar
Looking for a tropical cocktail suitable for a pirate? The Shipwreck drink at this casual local establishment is strong enough so you only need one! Another favorite at this bar is the ConchKnocker, which is a blend of rums & a secret ingredient. Sit & sip these cocktails on the picnic tables located on Blue Hill Beach, where you can listen to the waves lapping the shore as you relax. Thinking you'll get hungry later? This hangout is also famous for its conch specialties, like conch fritters, conch salad & conch chowder.

This locale has been listed in the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die," so even if you stop in for lunch one day, it's clearly worth a visit!

Infiniti Bar
This ultimate luxury lounge is a perfect stop for couples on a honeymoon in the Caribbean. Located within the Grace Bay Resort, it pays homage to traditional Turkish decor with blue & gold Bisazza glass mosaic tiles, but its chic overall look creates a cosmopolitan feel – after all, it was designed by Keith Hobbs, the United Designers stylist who is known for his work with Nobu, the world's most recognized Japanese restaurant, & London's W Hotel.

Take a seat at the 90-foot black marble bar that stretches across the Grace Bay beach & order the Infiniti Martini, which is a mixture of Hpnotiq, Malibu rum & pineapple juice. Sip in peace as you watch the stunning sunset right from the bar.

What Makes a Beach Bum Vacation Different?

April 17th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Luxury Vacation Travel | Leave a comment

At Beach Bum Vacations, we strive to provide you with exactly the type of vacation you're looking for – whether that means an action-packed family vacation to the Caribbean or a relaxing honeymoon in Mexico. While a number of travel agencies will strive to set up any number of luxury vacations to exquisite locales, we pride ourselves on giving your vacation a personal touch and ensuring every last detail is exactly how you want it.

You know what you're in for
When you book a vacation to some far-off locale, the only guide you really have is what you're told by the resorts and attractions you plan on visiting. Pictures can look nice in a brochure or magazine, but what does that luxury resort really look like? What does the food actually taste like? How friendly are the people? These are the questions Beach Bum Vacation staff can answer for you, because we've been to each and every resort we recommend. We know how blue the water really is, we know how good the food really tastes, we've experienced how vibrant the nightlife actually is.

It's all about you
Through our own travels, we've gained a strong understanding of which destinations, resorts and other attractions are worthwhile. That said, if you tell us you've always wanted to go on a cruise, we're not going to recommend an all-inclusive resort in Tahiti. If you want a quiet, private getaway, we're not going to suggest a family friendly resort. Our number-one goal is to cater your vacation to you. With our 23 guides, we have an array of different personalities who are ready to listen to the details of your dream vacation and make it a reality.

Stress less while planning
The point of going on vacation is to have fun, so it doesn't make much sense to stress over the planning process. Whether you're wrapped up in the daily grind of caring for the kids or have been stressing about which wedding dress you want for your island wedding ceremony, worrying about researching a venue or arranging airline travel is probably the last thing you want to do. That's our job! Let us do all the dirty work. Whether finding kid-friendly attractions near your resort or working out destination wedding details with an independent wedding planner of your choice, it's our pleasure to make sure these logistical matters do not take away from your overall enjoyment of your trip!

Don't believe us? Listen to what our clients have to say!

There's no doubt that Jamaica is the reggae capital of the world – after all, it did raise legends like Bob Marley. Although every day in this Caribbean island offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy some authentic reggae, true fans of the bouncing beats & steel drums may want to plan a Beach Bum Vacation for July, when Montego Bay is hosting Reggae Sumfest, the "Greatest Reggae Show on Earth."

This annual five-day music festival attracts thousands of visitors every year, making this corner of Jamaica even more vibrant than usual. Its main focus is on up-and-coming reggae singer-songwriters, & plenty of reggae musicians will likely perform in the style of the famous "Redemption Song" singer. However, as it has grown in popularity over the past 20 years, the event has begun to pull in rappers & hip-hop artists as well. Beenie Man, Jah Cure, Etana & Gramps Morgan have performed in years past, as have Usher, Shaggy, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Lionel Richie, Rihanna, Jay-Z & Kanye West.

Whether you are planning your honeymoon in the Caribbean or simply looking for a fun-filled summer getaway, the sizzling show in Montego Bay won't disappoint music lovers or those looking for a party. Sandals Montego Bay might be a good choice if you want to take part in Reggae Sumfest. This luxury travel resort offers all the amenities for a simply indulgent honeymoon or adult only vacation. When you're not grooving to fresh tunes at the festival, you can relax on the resort's private white-sand beach, sun yourself by the oceanside pools or get a massage at the on-site Red Lane Spa. The eight gourmet restaurants offer both casual and formal dining atmospheres, perfect for a special honeymoon dinner or a sunny breakfast overlooking the brilliant blue water.

Kids in the Riviera: Bring the Family to Mexico

April 16th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Family Vacations | Leave a comment

Places like Cancun may be known for destination weddings & spring break festivities, & there are many resorts lining these spectacular beaches that are perfect for such vacations. However, if you have kids & want to plan all inclusive trips to Mexico with your entire brood, there are plenty of options for you, too. Aside from its stunning shorelines, Cancun boasts fantastic entertainment options for both parents & kids alike. Want to head to the spa? Are the kids dying to go to the zoo? Make it all happen during your family vacation in Mexico.

Relax & get pampered
One of the best Mexican Beach Bum Vacations for families is at Azul Beach Resort in Cancun. Mixing elegance with plenty of kid-friendly fun, this all inclusive resort also happens to be near a number of fantastic attractions. However, if you're just looking to relax, stay at the resort & hang by one of the eight pools – kids will love the children's pool. For more R&R, stop in at the Vassa Spa, a full-service facility where you can get a facial, body wrap or massage. Drop the kids at the Azulitos Play House to keep them entertained with activities like singing, stories, video games, beach treasure hunts, sandcastle building, balloon wars, mini yoga & crafts.

Dive into an adventure
The more active members of the family may want to paddle out to Puerto Morelos National Park, a protected coral reef located about 550 yards offshore right near the Azul Beach Resort. This protected reef is part of the Great Mesoamerican Reef, which is the largest system in the Western Hemisphere & second-largest in the world. Stop into one of the snorkel & dive shops to rent some equipment & discover that much of Cancun's natural beauty lies below the surface.

Check out the local residents at the zoo
Most zoos have tigers, elephants & other exotic wildlife, but the animals at the Crococun Zoo, located just around the corner from the resort, might be even more exciting for the youngsters. This interactive zoo, which is free for kids, lets visitors touch & hold a variety of animals native to the area, including the coatis, a small raccoon-like mammal, & the tegu, a massive red iguana-like reptile. Monkeys, snakes & crocodiles are also waiting for a visit. In fact, you can even walk among crocodiles if you're brave enough!

Of course, there are plenty of things families can do together within the resort, too. Valuing togetherness, this hotel is designed so parents & kids can have fun together. Play some volleyball or go fishing, or take a shopping trip at on-site boutiques. No matter what you and your family choose to do, a vacation at this luxury hotel in Mexico is sure to be unforgettable.

Matira Beach, Bora Bora: The Planet’s Best Stretch of Sand

April 12th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Luxury Vacation Travel | Leave a comment

The French Polynesian island of Bora Bora might be just 18 miles long, but that certainly does not mean it has a shortage of breathtaking beaches. In fact, this year the Travel Channel named Matira Beach the best overall stretch of sand on the planet, & when you visit this stunning locale on your next Beach Bum Vacation, we know you'll agree.

Situated on the southern tip of the island, Matira's beauty has made it Bora Bora's most popular public beach. This mile-long stretch of sand boasts calm waters that are ideal for swimming & snorkeling, making it the perfect destination for family vacations to French Polynesia.

However, they don't call Bora Bora the "Romantic Island" for no reason. Since Matira faces west, it is also known around the world for its stunning sunsets. As the skies fill with radiant shades of pink & orange, you won't be able to help feeling the island's romantic charm, whether you and your sweetheart are on your honeymoon or simply indulging in an adult only vacation.
