March 30th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Luxury Vacation Travel | Leave a comment

Here at Beach Bum Vacation, we eat, sleep and breathe the beach, but we also spend a great deal of time figuring out how we can best serve you and deliver that amazing tropical beach vacation you've always dreamed about. We've thought long and hard about what our core values are, and recently narrowed it down to 10 that we feel fully reflect everything we do, whether we're interacting with each other, our business partners, or most importantly – you!

1. Deliver "WOW" customer service
The gorgeous tropical landscapes of the Caribbean will definitely provide that "WOW" factor when you arrive at your luxury hotel in the Caribbean, but we don't want this to be the only "WOW" experience of your Beach Bum Vacation. From the moment you contact us about your vacation dreams, we aim to impress you with superior communication skills and customer service. We want to "WOW" you all the way to the beach!

2. Build open, honest & meaningful relationships with all communications
Collaborating with resorts, suppliers & you, our consumer, we strive to ensure each of our connections feels as valued and respected as they are to us.

3. Seeing is believing while pursuing growth & learning
Our travel concierges know what they're talking about because they've been there! We believe that seeing is believing, and that's why we send our travel concierges all around the world – from St. Lucia and the Dominican Republic to Mexico, Hawaii and French Polynesia. That's how we know that the accommodations we're recommending really are top notch!

4. Build a positive team & family environment
To give you an outstanding vacation, we need outstanding people to plan it! That's why we strive to maintain a friendly, warm environment at the office. We think our enthusiasm for our jobs shows when we get started on your family vacation in Mexico or destination weddings in the Caribbean!

5. Embrace, drive & lead change
As a business, we want to be the best in our class, so we're constantly looking for new trends in the industry and thinking of changes we could adopt to improve the overall customer experience.

6. Create fun in the sun in everything you touch
Going on vacation should never be stressful – that's why we want to make every step of the process sunny and fun for you – from the first time you contact us to the time you tearfully say goodbye to your luxury hotel.

7. Be open minded & creative
We understand that no one person's vacation is going to be the same as the next person's. That's why we're always thinking outside the box to customize your trip and get you exactly what you want.

8. Do more with less
Tell us what you can manage – maybe you have limited time or resources – and we'll make the most of it. You might be surprised by how fantastic a weekend getaway to the Caribbean can be!

9. Be passionate & determined
As the years go by, we never want to lose our passion or determination to get you the best vacation ever.

10. Be humble
Don't worry, though – we'll keep our wits about us. We're always open to suggestions and love feedback!

Why Stay at the “World’s Most Romantic Resort”?

March 29th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Adult Only Resorts, All Inclusive Travel, Honeymoons | Leave a comment

Why would you want to stay in the "World's Most Romantic Resort"? Well, that title alone pretty much says all you need to know when you are planning your honeymoon in the Caribbean! Although all the Caribbean boasts those shimmering turquoise waters you've been dreaming about, Antigua is home to the Sandals resort that has been voted the "World's Leading Honeymoon Resort" for three years in a row. At this luxury hotel in the Caribbean, the staff goes above & beyond to maximize romance so you & your dearly beloved can live on cloud nine throughout your stay.

Looking for some highlights? Just imagine your top three most romantic daydreams – you'll find them at Sandals Grande Antigua. It's almost like they can read your mind! Still not convinced? Read on.

A remote tropical beach …
One of the most classic romantic settings is that idyllic tropical beach. Warm Caribbean waves lap at the white sandy shores as the swaying palms play the soundtrack to this scene. No need to wake up from this daydream when you book your Beach Bum Vacation in Antigua. The Sandals Grande Antigua is located right on Dickenson Bay, one of the most picturesque Caribbean beaches, & you & your new spouse can stroll hand in hand until you find a private spot to share a kiss.

A lush flower garden
The scents of pink plumeria filter through the air as the love of your life strolls over & hands you a cocktail, joining you under the shady palms. Making this dream a reality is easy when you book honeymoons in the Caribbean Grove, a section of this adult only vacation spot. These suites are shrouded in lush greenery of plumeria, palm trees & red ixora flowers, but inside features handmade rugs and mahogany furniture from Jamaica. Admire the travertine floor tiles as you relax in this exotic atmosphere for an afternoon drink.

A palatial square
You & your sophisticated city slicker beau hold hands as you skip through the vibrant energy of a Mediterranean city square, choosing which shops to stop into and which French pastry you should share. In the Grande Antigua's Mediterranean Village, you can experience the charm and grandeur of Europe's coastal cities, thanks to the many boutiques and art galleries, as well as the British pub, French cafe and Italian pizza parlor in stunning St. Mark's Square.

3 Reasons to Plan a Beach Bum Vacation to The Exumas

March 29th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in All Inclusive Travel, Luxury Vacation Travel | Leave a comment

You've heard of the Bahamas, with the booming nightlife of Nassau & the all the intrigue of Atlantis, but if you travel just 35 miles southeast, you'll find what could prove to be an even more beautiful gem – the Exumas. This archipelago encompasses 365 cays & islands, boasting aquamarine views for as far as the eye can see.

The islands are divided into three major areas – Great Exuma, Little Exuma & The Exuma Cays – & offer an idyllic site for honeymoons in the Caribbean, or just a fun getaway with your sweetheart. The unspoiled nature is enough of a reason to visit this unique Caribbean destination, but here are some more reasons:

It's a place where pigs … swim!
You may never see pigs fly, but when you visit Major's Spot Cay in the Exumas, you'll see them swim! If you arrive at this cay by boat, these domesticated pigs will swim up to greet you (& maybe expect you to give them a little snack for their efforts).

It's home to the oldest living fossils
There are fantastic snorkeling & diving spots all throughout the Bahamas, but in The Exuma Cays, divers will see one of the most interesting geological sights in the world – stromatolites. Although you might need a Ph.D to fully appreciate the geological significance of these grayish-brown rocks, you may be intrigued to know that you're swimming among the oldest living fossils in the world.

It's the spot of the solstice
Located within the Exumas is the Tropic of Cancer Beach, a powdery white crescent strip that is located right on the geographic coordinates of the Tropic of Cancer, the most northerly spot on Earth where the sun appears directly overhead. This occurs just once a year, during the summer solstice in June, but the beach is still one of the prettiest in the archipelago & is the longest on the island of Little Exuma.

It boasts all inclusive luxury
Luxury vacations in The Exumas are some of the most relaxing & refreshing. Book a Beach Bum Vacation at the Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Great Exuma to get a little bit of pampering among a whole lot of natural beauty. This luxury hotel in the Caribbean plays up the low-key vibe of these Bahamian "Out Islands" & treats guests to an experience perfect for romantic adult vacations in the Caribbean.

Relax and Have a Drink in Jamaica

Jamaica is perhaps the best Beach Bum Vacation spot for those of you who are looking to simply chill out. Between the stunning white sand beaches, gorgeous natural surroundings and the laid-back culture, Jamaica offers visitors a chance to kick back and soak it all in during luxury vacations. Although this is the perfect atmosphere for relaxing, you won't want to spend your whole vacation lounging on the beach – not when there are so many exciting options for nightlife near your resort!

If you're taking a adult vacation to the Caribbean you might want to stay at the Beaches Ochos Rios Resort & Golf Club. Here, you'll have plenty of opportunities for entertainment right outside your doorstep. This resort boasts an action-adventure waterpark, five gourmet restaurants and plenty of water sports on its private white sand beach. But its location in Ochos Rios means you'll also be privy to some of the hottest nightlife in Jamaica. Here are some hot spots to check out:

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville
Who hasn't wanted to "waste away in Margaritaville," as Jimmy Buffet croons in his classic song? You can do just that when you stop by this iconic local establishment. Most nights, this place is booming with live music and offers plenty of dancing in its open-air venue. If you stop by on a Wednesday night, make sure you don your beachy best – every week there's a beach party theme and you can get in and drink all you want for just $10 if you dress the part! You can also dive into the restaurant and bar's pool and waterslide between trips to the dance floor, where you can groove to local reggae as well as popular rap, pop and hip hop.

Evita's Italian Restaurant
Don't be fooled by the name of this hotspot – every Saturday night, this Italian eatery hosts a Latin Party Night from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Head over to the restaurant to dance to the latest Latin hits, including salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton. Hit the floor and try out some moves or just kick back and watch the pros!

Blue Beat Ultra Lounge
Reggae is undoubtedly the soundtrack of any Jamaican vacation, but Blue Beat Ultra Lounge in Ochos Rios proves that's not all the island can jam to. Head to the this spot on Thursdays for live jazz from the resident band Scotch or on Fridays for Copacabana, a night of Latin flair where you can dance to salsa, merengue, reggaeton and bachata. On Saturdays, there's a music from all genres for dance lovers, making this lounge a perfect addition to adult vacations in the Caribbean.

The Can’t-Miss Sights of Hawaii

March 28th, 2013 | By admin | Posted in Family Vacations, Honeymoons | Leave a comment

Traveling to Hawaii is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many people, considering it's a trek to get there, whether you're traveling from Michigan, Mississippi or Maine. However, the travel necessary to get to this exotic U.S. locale is well worth it. Between its majestic, volcanic cliffs, breathtaking waterfalls & dazzling coral reefs, there's plenty to see during your honeymoon to Hawaii. You can also bring the kids along for a family vacation they'll never forget!

Worried you'll miss something? Book a Beach Bum Vacation & your travel concierge will ensure you see everything these gorgeous islands have to offer. Here are a few suggestions of sites to include in your honeymoon or family vacation to Hawaii:

'Akaka Falls: The wonders of the Hawaiian rainforest
If you're traveling to the Big Island to see the incredible volcanic activity, make sure you include a trip to 'Akaka Falls State Park, where the stunning 'Akaka Falls pummels 442 feet into an eroded gorge. This is a popular destination for families & couples alike, since it's just a 0.4-mile hike through the verdant tropical vegetation. Also notable on this path is the scenic lookout over Kahuna Falls.

Smith's: Fall in love with the luau!
No trip to Hawaii is complete without a traditional luau, & visitors are treated to the best at Smith's on Kauai, where the family-run business puts on the Smith Family Garden Luau for locals & visitors alike. Watch as your hosts pull the Kalua pig from the underground imu oven, where it was roasted, & then feast on teriyaki beef, ono mahi mahi & chicken adobo. After dinner, listen to traditional Hawaiian music, watch professional hula dancers & even try a few moves out yourself.

Byodo-In Temple: Explore the rich island culture
You'll get a little island culture at a backyard luau, but you can explore yet another aspect if you visit the Byodo-In Temple on Oahu. This non-denominational Buddhist temple, nestled at the foot of the Ko'olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, welcomes people of all faiths. It was established in 1968 to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants who settled in Hawaii. Whether you come to worship a higher power or indulge in the beauty of this stunning destination, it's certainly worth a trip. Explore the lush temple grounds & be greeted by wild peacocks. This is also a popular site for destination weddings in Hawaii.
